all manner of crafting

I realised that it's been a while since I showed you what I've been crafting here Under Rainbows. As you know I have started doll making again (slowly, slowly)
I finished this little lady and she's soon heading off to be with her special little person. I just placed an order for lots of skin fabric and hair yarn and my next doll project will be a wee batch of snuggle buddies. I have space for 1 or 2 custom order ones, you can email me laura.whalen@yahoo.ie if you're interested :-)

It was my youngest brother's 30th Birthday back in May and he requested a pair of arm warmers. He plays in a sol samba band and spotted these at a carnival and asked if I would knit him a pair.
They are sooo 'Cat in the Hat' I love them. I knitted them in red and white cotton, which should wear well and wash well.
They are a bit long on me, but should fit his forearm. Hope he likes them :-)

I am still slowly working on my dress. It is coming together better than I hoped and I am so excited about it.
The fabric is so lovely. I need to get my neighbour to help me pin the last pieces to fit then it shouldn't take long to finish. I'm really enjoying making it and I know I'll love wearing it.
I am also working on a birthday present for him. Yes I know! There is now a him. I am sure that I will introduce you in time, but for now I'm keeping him for my very own self.
The last project I want to share with you is a beret I am knitting for myself in black mohair. I love the hats I knitted for myself last year, but I think that I need more :-)
What are you working on?

  5. Love everything you are working on, such varied talents you have. That dress fabric is wonderful.
I'm hastily making two snuggle blankets for twins that have just started in my home daycare. First day here we went for a walk and one of them threw his blankie out of the pushchair, unfortunately I didn't notice until we were home. We back tracked and asked everyone we met, but to no alas. I've done all the crochet bits now I have to do the sewing machine bit. I'll need a big glass of wine to stay calm for this as my sewing machine doesn't like me at all!!

    1. oh dear, the sewing machine love-hate relationship, I had that with my last one, but I have a very simple work horse vintage machine now that is my baby! I can't wait to show off my finished dress :-) those snuggle blankets sound gorgeous x
